ABOUT
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), in collaboration with National Red Cross societies and technical partners, advances a global initiative to enhance disaggregated datasets for crisis anticipation and response. The system incorporates real-time granular datasets, geospatial analysis, and AI-powered predictive modeling to deliver rapid crisis analysis within 48 hours of an event. Initially focused on three pilot countries, the project is designed to scale across all 191 IFRC National Societies worldwide.
OBJECTIVES
With CRAF'd support, IFRC harmonizes CIESIN, WorldPop and IFRC datasets, embeds estimates into National Societies through IFRC GO, and eventually pilots these datasets across selected countries. This approach will help to ensure that rapid disaggregated population estimates are developed not as a stand-alone data product, but as practical support for National Societies and IFRC teams when early response decisions are being made.
IFRC’s GUARD demonstrates how strategic investment in data can improve humanitarian decision‑making. By advancing shared approaches to vulnerability analysis and evidence‑based prioritisation, the project strengthens IFRC’s ability to support National Societies while also contributing to learning and good practice across the wider humanitarian sector.
