ABOUT
Developed by the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) and Uppsala University, VIEWS-PIN applies machine learning, advanced statistics, and big data to forecast conflict-driven humanitarian needs up to three years into the future. Built on the VIEWS conflict prediction model, the platform generates monthly forecasts across five dimensions of need — income, water, healthcare, education, and food security — for all Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). VIEWS-PIN strengthens anticipatory decision-making and supports earlier, more targeted humanitarian response.
OBJECTIVES
With CRAF'd support, VIEWS-PIN enables partners to translate conflict risk data into anticipatory action. By developing country-specific risk levels, incorporating longitudinal surveys to advance localized predictions across all LMICs, and deepening understanding of compound climate and conflict shocks, the platform helps ensure resources reach people in crisis earlier, faster, and in a more targeted and dignified manner.
Supported by CRAF’d, the VIEWS-PIN project has uncovered the complex impacts of armed conflict and climate hazards on humanitarian need.
