ABOUT
The Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED) is the leading provider of real-time global data on conflict. Working with nearly 90 partners—more than half from fragile and crisis-affected settings—ACLED collects and curates precise, locally informed data on dates, actors, locations, fatalities, and event types across 244 countries and territories. ACLED’s data, analysis, and tools are freely accessible to UN and non-UN partners who alleviate suffering worldwide.

ACLED's mission is to provide accurate and accessible data and analysis to better inform crisis decisions and actions. From tracking conflict events in real-time to analyzing trends globally, ACLED equips academics, governments, journalists, humanitarian organizations, and other key stakeholders with the tools they need to make informed decisions.

OBJECTIVES
With CRAF’d support, ACLED will continue to provide real-time, geo-coded conflict data through bi-weekly updates. The funding supports ACLED’s efforts to deepen local partnerships, and enhances tools like Explorer, Trendfinder, and the Conflict Alert System (CAST) to improve accessibility and regional coordination. By strengthening core operations and refining data collection methods, ACLED ensures reliable, actionable insights while building local capacity and analytical capabilities. This will equip ecosystem partners with the tools needed to respond to crises earlier, faster, and in a more targeted and dignified way.

CONFLICT DATA EXPLORER
ACLED Explorer allows users to filter and summarize data via an intuitive form that produces data tables and charts in answer to your questions about event types, actors, locations, and time periods dating back to 2018 where available.

Trendfinder offers customizable tools for tracking political violence and demonstrations globally. It streamlines trend analysis, allowing users to tailor insights to their needs—whether monitoring violent hotspots across regions or analyzing unrest in specific subnational areas.

ACLED CONFLICT INDEX
The Conflict Index, published every six months since January 2023, ranks countries by conflict severity. It factors in not just fatality figures but also the duration of conflict, civilian danger, geographic spread, and violence fragmentation among armed groups.

CONFLICT ALERT SYSTEM (CAST)
Conflict Alert System (CAST), forecasts political violence worldwide up to six months ahead. Monthly updates include predictions for the next six months and accuracy metrics from prior forecasts.

CONFLICT EXPOSURE CALCULATOR
Conflict Exposure Calculator tool combines ACLED's event-based conflict data with WorldPop’s population estimates to assess civilian impact based on proximity, event type, violent actors, location, and time.
