HIGHLIGHT EVENT: CRAF’d AT THE UN WORLD DATA FORUM

The panel discussion on "Unlocking Impact: Data, Analytics, and AI for Better Crisis Action" at the UN World Data Forum 2024 in Medellín, Colombia, brought together a full house of engaged participants eager to explore how we can create sustainable crisis data ecosystems to support over 350 million people living in fragile and crisis-affected settings.

LIVE FROM THE UNITED NATIONS: SECURING OUR DIGITAL FUTURE
CRAF’d, in partnership with Gzero Media, hosted “Securing Our Digital Future” live from the 79th United Nations General Assembly. Global leaders from governments, international organizations, non-governmental organizations and the private sector discussed how to address global challenges, with a key point, building inclusive digital infrastructure for all.
FIRST HUMANITARIAN DATA FORUM: SHAPING THE FUTURE OF HUMANITARIAN DATA
Hosted by the OCHA Centre for Humanitarian Data and supported by CRAF'd, The Hague, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, and NORCAP, the inaugural Humanitarian Data Forum celebrated a decade of the Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX) platform and laid the groundwork for the future of data-driven humanitarian action. The forum gathered over 130 participants from UN agencies, NGOs, governments, donors, the private sector, and academia to foster a collaborative data ecosystem.
DATA FOR PEACE: PRACTITIONERS HYBRID CONFERENCE
CRAF'd, in collaboration with its partners, connect ecosystem partners at the Data For Peace Conference - a 5-day hybrid event hosted by the NYU Center on International Cooperation. This monumental gathering brought together some 1,500 practitioners from around the world. It featured over 120 speakers and 20 insightful sessions. The conference was a nexus, connecting the UN, Member States, academia, NGOs, and the private sector.
REIMAGINING TOMORROW: BREAKTHROUGHS IN DATA & AI FOR A MORE RESILIENT WORLD
In partnership with Gzero Media and the Early Warning for All initiative, CRAF’d convened global leaders at the 78th UN General Assembly. The live-streamed talk show attracted over 100,000 online viewers. Amina Mohammed (Deputy Secretary-General, United Nations), Axel van Trotsenburg, (Managing Director, World Bank), Dr. Comfort Ero (President and CEO, International Crisis Group), and Ian Bremmer (President, Eurasia Group & GZERO Media), delved into the potential of data, AI, and technology to address the most urgent challenges of our time and enhance crisis anticipation, charting a course for a more resilient future.
UNLOCKING IMPACT: DATA WITH PURPOSE
During the 77th UN General Assembly, CRAF'd, in partnership with the Global Data Facility (GDF) hosted by the World Bank, presented the high-level event "Unlocking Impact: Data with Purpose". The event featured influential global leaders, including United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed and World Bank Managing Director for Development Policy and Partnerships Mari Pangestu. Together, they emphasized the indispensable role of data in effectively addressing and tackling the world's most pressing challenges.
WORLD BANK SPRING MEETING
During the 2022 World Bank Spring Meetings, the World Bank, led by Group Senior Vice President and Chief Economist Carmen Reinhart and Managing Director for Development Policy and Partnerships Mari Pangestu, alongside the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, hosted a High-Level Roundtable. The central theme of this esteemed gathering was “Investing in Data with Purpose,” aiming to forge a robust coalition dedicated to harnessing the transformative power of data for global betterment.
CRAF'd LAUNCH EVENT
In October 2021, the United Nations, the United States of America, Germany, the Netherlands, and the European Commission launched the Complex Risk Analytics Fund (CRAF'd), the first and only multilateral financing instrument to build a global risk data ecosystem and enhance collective capacity to anticipate, prevent and respond to complex risks in fragile and crisis-affected settings. By championing collaboration and optimizing the potential of data, CRAF’d is committed to driving impactful crisis solutions and supporting all partners with pivotal data resources.
