DATA IN ACTION
In South Sudan, CRAF’d-supported ACLED data is helping partners take anticipatory action, resulting in 2,800 fewer displaced people and informing early action models in six additional countries.

In Akobo County, South Sudan, long-standing intercommunal tensions have repeatedly forced families from their homes. Without early prevention, thousands risk losing their homes, livelihoods, farmland and safety.

Backed by CRAF’d investment, conflict data from ACLED fed into the Danish Refugee Council’s AHEAD initiative, a model that forecasts population movements up to three months in advance.
When the model signaled a likely surge in May 2024, the Danish Refugee Council worked with local peace structures to convene inter-community dialogues involving more than 200 community leaders, youth, and local officials, helping to defuse tensions before they escalated.
