ABOUT

The International Organization for Migration’s Global Data Institute introduces PRIMARI, an ambitious initiative to enhance the grasp on global mobility by consolidating sub-national displacement data with migration insights. This project aims to forge a composite dataset spanning up to 60 countries, drawing on the rich data resources of the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM). PRIMARI stands out for its commitment to merging diverse data streams into a singular, accessible, and actionable dataset, supported by a comprehensive metadata repository to ensure data transparency and integrity.

GOALS

CONSOLIDATE

Displacement data with migration information to streamline the availability of global mobility insights and enable near-real-time analysis.

ENHANCE

The accessibility and actionability of mobility data to provide timely, evidence-based support in crisis action.

EMPOWER

Ecosystem partners with a comprehensive view of human mobility patterns for better crisis anticipation, prevention, and response.

OBJECTIVES

With CRAF'd support, IOM is advancing the analysis of internal migration data to create a more comprehensive global data resource. The initiative seeks to bridge critical knowledge gaps in human mobility understanding by integrating and refining data on displacement and migration. This effort marks a step forward in developing accessible datasets for evidence-based decision-making, contributing to more nuanced and effective responses to migration, especially in fragile and crisis-affected settings.

5,000

Downloads of PRIMARI data every year.

$35M

Crisis aid facilitated that arrives earlier, faster, and more targeted and dignified way.

42M

People in fragile and crisis-affected settings benefit from earlier, faster, more targeted, and dignified assistance.

UPDATES

DTM is active in 100 countries, informing 81 percent of humanitarian response plans. That is why the support from CRAF’d is pivotal in increasing efficiency system-wide by enabling the use of data at an unprecedented spatial detail. That translates into stronger ability to save lives and drive solutions to displacement.
