DATA IN ACTION
HDX Signals showcases how CRAF’d-supported data helps translate early warning into early action, shaping timely, evidence-based decisions and funding for people affected by crises.

In fast-moving crises, warnings only save lives when they drive decisions. Too often responders lack reliable signals across conflict, displacement, and other shocks, so funding and help arrive after the worst hits. With clear, fast, trusted signals, decision makers unlock earlier, faster, more targeted and dignified action. This is the navigation system CRAF’d backs to protect people before conditions deteriorate.

In January 2025, a displacement alert flagged the worst conflict-driven displacement in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo in over five years, prompting Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to increase its funding allocation.
Local actors such as GOALPrime Nigeria also put HDX Signals to work. In October 2024, the tool flagged severe disaster-driven displacement across the country due to flooding from heavy rains. This alert enabled the organization to quickly plan and design a response and secure funding in record time. As of January 2025, GOALPrime Nigeria is implementing seven projects based on analysis first received from HDX Signals.

DISCOVER
THE IMPACT
HDX Signals is a data-driven decision-support tool developed by UN OCHA’s Centre for Humanitarian Data, detects sharp changes in conflict, displacement, food security, and market conditions and issues automated, plain-language alerts when risks escalate. Built on open, interoperable datasets, including CRAF’d-supported data from ACLED and IDMC, HDX Signals turns complex data into clear, trusted, and actionable insights.
